This juvenile Satin Bowerbird was rescued as a chick that had become separated from his parents. He still hangs around his wildlife carer’s home and has become quite a character, already stealing blue objects and practicing his ‘dance’.
The male Satin Bowerbird is perhaps the best known and well documented of all the bowerbirds in Australia. Famed for his practice of building and decorating a bower to attract females, which he decorates with bright blue coloured objects that he collects. Favourite items to steal include blue clothes pegs, drinking straws and bottle tops.
