Wild HeART - 1 year Anniversary of Wildlife Sydney Zoo's Conservation Fund

This 2013 event celebrated the first anniversary of the zoo’s conservation fund.

I was flattered to be asked to exhibit and came up with the idea to photograph the zoo’s endangered or  threatened species.

I used my macro lens to create intimate portraits that would not be possible in the wild.  Eye contact with the animals was an important element of my work.

An auction of the work from this exhibition raised over $7000 for the fund.

Princess the Cassowary was the first bird I photographed, initially it was for threatened species day in September. I spent an hour in his enclosure trying out different shots. It was his 'other' shot that set the style of the exhibition. This A2 framed print (First edition) was auctioned off with 100% of profits going to the fund.
