Angela was overcome with emotion when she finally found a small flock of Glossy black-cockatoos.
It was her first time seeing them in the wild.
Angela knew about a little flock in the blue mountains, but every time went on walks, heard but never saw them.
This time she went off the usual trails, kept where there were casuarina trees and she thinks just lucky to come across two quietly feeding in a tree. When the two flew off Angela walked for 2 hours in the direction and found the small flock. There were smoochy couples, flirty males and babies being fed.Angela will never forget this special encounter.
Glossy black-cockatoos are categorised as a vulnerable species. They feed exclusively on seeds in the cones of she-oak trees.
Habitat loss, drought & bushfires reduce the number of food plants and suitable nesting hollows. This image captures the monogamous and endearing relationships Australian parrots form.
They pair for life (unless a tragedy happens)
