During Spring, if wild windy weather hits, some Tawny Frogmouth fledglings end up on the ground, due to the flimsy nests their parents build.

We always try and buddy up and we did this with these three. Except two were related and one wasn’t!

We managed to locate the family of the two and engaged the services of an arborist to get them back high into the tree in a makeshift nest.  As the three had bonded we decided we would put all back and then monitor to see if parents accept them all.

As they are nocturnal we did this at dusk, parents accepted all three and successfully raised them until they fledged.

This photo montage depicts them high up in the tree!  I photographed them whilst they were in my care and then when searching for the parents took photos of the trees they would likely sit in.
